Nifflas about his way of game design

Hey everybody.

Nifflas, a game designer famous for Knytt Stories, Within a Deep Forest, and lots of other games held a lecture at ITU Copenhagen. You can watch his lecture at the blog of the Copenhagen Game Collective.

I really enjoyed it, especially the parts about sound effects. Inspired by Nifflas, I decided to use some white noise sound effects for Where is my Heart? Modulated white noise works well for wind going through leaves or for a forest rain.

I am also trying to figure out how to get hold of sounds like an old tea-kettle whistling. Probably the best way is to record it yourself..

We have a 'whistling kettle' if that turns out to be useful. It's kind of shrill, though, and doesn't necessarily sound all that old fashioned. Not that I know what old fashioned kettles sound like.
